Biography

Sabit Rahman Azerbaijani (USSR) author and  screewriter. Honored Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR (1943). In 1932 he graduated from the Pedagogical institute in Baku. He is deemed one of the founders of Azerbaijani Soviet comedy. His articles had been  published since the end of the 1920s in satyrical Azerbaijani magazine "Molla Nasreddin". He wrote screenplays for comedies such as "Wedding" (post. 1939), "Lucky" (post. 1941), "Welcome" (post. 1949), "The Bride" (post. 1954), "Lies" (1965), "Hijran" ( 1970) and others. His son, Emin, became a composer, People's Artist of Azerbaijan. In the city of Sheki, a monument in his honor in front of the theater, named in his honor. Sabit Rahman died in Baku in 1970.
