Mehdi Mammadov was born on May 22, 1918 in Shusha (Azerbaijan). In 1936 he graduated from the acting department of the Baku Theater School (now - the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts). In 1941 he graduated from the director's faculty of GITIS (class NM Gorchakov).In 1941-1945 years. - director and artistic director of the Kirovabad Drama Theater. J. Jabbarly, in 1945 - 1946 - the director, in 1960-1963. - the main director of the Azerbaijan Azizbay Drama Theater. In the years 1956-1960. - the main director of the Azerbaijan Opera and Ballet Theater named after Akhundov, in 1978-1982. - director of the Azerbaijan Russian Drama Theater. S. Vurgun. Since 1946, he taught at the Azerbaijan Theater Institute. M.A. Aliyev (since 1960 professor, head of the department of directing), in 1963-1970. - at the Baku University. In 1971-1976 - Chairman of the Theater Society (now the Union of theatrical figures) of Azerbaijan.Mammadov is the author of a number of works on the theory of art and aesthetics, translations.Mamedov died on January 28, 1985 in Baku. He was buried in the Alley of Honor in Baku.
