Cattrall was born on August 21, 1956 in Mossley Hill, Liverpool. His father, Dennis Cattrall, was a construction worker, his mother, Shane, was a housewife. When Kim was three months old, the family emigrated to Canada. Eleven years later they returned to the UK. There, Cattrall attended lectures at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
