Biography
Yuriy Aleksandrovich Butyrin is Soviet and Russian animation director, production designer, animator. Worked in hand-drawn animation. Yuriy Butyrin was born in Moscow. In 1949, he graduated from the sculpture department of the Moscow Art and Industrial College named after M.I. Kalinin, after which he worked on the restoration and decoration of buildings damaged by the Great Patriotic War in Moscow and Leningrad. In 1956, he entered the drawing course at the Soyuzmultfilm movie studio and until 1963 worked in this profession. In 1964 he graduated from the courses of animators. In 1968 he made his debut as a production designer in the short animated film of Boris Stepantsev "The Kid and Carlson". In 1973 he made his debut as a director. In 1977-1979 Butyrin worked in Minsk at the Belarusfilm film studio. In 1980-1990 he worked as a director at the Multtelefilm studio Ekran. In 1997 he released the full-length animated film "Dunno on the Moon".
