Ismail Osmanli was born on April 24, 1902, in the city of Noah (Sheki) in a poor family. In 1922, moving to Ganja, he worked for six years in the theater-amateurs. Having gained a certain acting experience, he was invited in 1928 to the Azerbaijan State Drama Theater in Tbilisi. In 1929 he moved to Baku and joined the troupe of the National Drama Theater, where he stayed until the end of his life. He created an unforgettable number of unforgettable roles on the stage of this theater. Ismail Osmanly was a performer of characteristic images in dramatic and tragicomedy genres, humorous roles in dramatic plays, as well as funny and satirical roles in comedies. Died June 22, 1978, buried at the Alley of Honor in Baku.
