Tofig Taghizadeh was born in a family of teachers. For five years he studied at a music school. After graduation, he entered the institute (now - the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy), but did not complete the education. Later he entered the directing department of VGIK. Member of the CPSU since 1944. Member of the Great Patriotic War. Since 1944 he was a member of the CPSU. In 1954 he graduated from the directing department of VGIK (workshop of S. Yutkevich and L. Kuleshov). In 1960 he became Honored Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR, and in 1964 - Chechen-Ingush ASSR. In 1976 he was awarded the title of People's Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR. In 1970 he was awarded the Lenin Komsomol Prize of Azerbaijan. Tagizade died on August 27, 1998 in Baku.
