Biography
Suleyman Alasgarov was born on February 22, 1924 in the city of Shusha, Azerbaijan SSR. In 1948, he graduated with honors from the Azerbaijan State Conservatory in the composition class of B.I. Zeidman and becomes the director of the Baku Music College. Member of the CPSU since 1948. From 1949 to 1951 he was the artistic director of the orchestra of the Committee for Cinematography of the Azerbaijan SSR. The house in Baku, in which Suleyman Alasgarov lived from 1965 to 2000. In 1951-1952 - Head of the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic named after M. Magomaev. In 1954-1956 - Head of the Department of Arts of the Ministry of Culture of the Azerbaijan SSR. From 1956 to 1958 - conductor of the orchestra of Azerbaijani folk instruments. In the years 1958-1960. - Artistic Director of the Republican Committee on Television and Radio Broadcasting, then for 11 years from 1960 to 1971 - Director and Chief Conductor of the Musical Comedy Theater. Sh. Gurbanova. Since 1958, Alasgarov was a teacher, and since 1968 - an assistant professor at this state conservatory. In 1960, Alasgarov was awarded the title of Honored Art Worker of the Azerbaijan SSR. In 1967 he was awarded the State Prize of the Azerbaijan SSR. Since 1970, he headed the educational-methodical council on musical and aesthetic education of the Ministry of Education of the Azerbaijan SSR. In 1974 he was awarded the title of People's Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR. It should be noted that since 1957, Alasgarov taught and periodically headed the department of folk instruments at the conservatory. Suleyman Alasgarov died in 2000.
