Biography

Todd Phillips (born Todd Bunzl, c. 1970) is an American director, producer, screenwriter, and actor. He is best known for writing and directing films, including Road Trip (2000), Old School (2003), Starsky & Hutch (2004), The Hangover Trilogy (2009, 2011, and 2013), Due Date (2010), and War Dogs (2016). For his work on the film Borat, he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. Born in Brooklyn, New York City, and raised in Huntington, New York, on Long Island. Phillips attended New York University Film School, but dropped out in order to focus on completing his first film. Around that time, he worked at Kim's Video and Music. He also appeared as one of the drivers in the first seasons of Taxicab Confessions on HBO. In a New York Times profile, Phillips claims to have gotten in trouble for shoplifting as a young man. When asked in a September 2014 interview by the BBC if he believes in God, Phillips replied: "Personally I don't. But I believe there's a higher power, a collective energy in people that you might say is God.
