Michael Miner
Screenwriter, producer, director and cinematographer
Michael Miner has spent over thirty years as a cinematographer, writer and director of award winning films. After graduating from UCLA with a Master of Fine Arts degree, he won numerous awards and wrote screenplays for Oliver Stone, Sylvester Stallone and Michael Douglas among others. During this time he continued to develop his personal craft as a still photographer, electing to work with large format cameras and sheet film. In 2002, he embarked upon a series of studies that would chronicle the chaos, beauty and soul of the landscape, often photographing in remote locations. He began exhibiting this work in 2008. In January, 2010 and October 2014, he received Artist-in-Residence grants from the National Park Service to photograph the Southwest. In June, 2010, Miner received a Merit Award from Black and White Magazine, which published a number of images from his portfolio. Today he painstakingly prints his 30x40 black and white images on silver halide papers in limited edition of thirty using traditional wet darkroom process.
