Biography
Shamil Mahmudbekov was born on December 5, 1924 in the city of Nakhchevan. In 1954 he graduated from the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography. Since 1955 he worked at the film studio "Azerbaijanfilm". Since 1969 he was a member of the CPSU. Mahmudbekov is the director of a number of documentary, short and full-length feature films, including "Romeo my neighbor" (1963), “Chernushka” (1963), "Earth. Sea. Fire. Heaven (1967), “Şərikli çörək” (1969), “Life Tests Us” (1971), 2The Dervish Explodes Paris” (1976, together with Kamil Rustambekov), The Owl Flying (1978), The Fire 1978) and others. In addition to the director's work, Mahmudbekov played in feature films. İnclude: "The Unconquered Battalion" (1965) Mahmudbekov played the role of the gaçag Alimardan, and in 1993 he played the role of Armenian doctor Samvel in the film "The scream" by Jeyhun Mirzoyev. Shamil Mahmudbekov died on May 20, 1997 in Bucky.
