Tamara Kokova was born on 15 March 1934 in Nalchik, Kabardino-Balkaria. She graduated from the Theater Arts College named after Anatolia Lunacharsky in 1958. Since 1959 she has been an actor of the Georgian-film studio, and from 1961 - the State Actor Theater. Since 1971 she is a Honored Artist of the RSFSR. Most of the actress's career has been filmed in Caucasian films. She also created interesting images in Azerbaijani films. The most memorable image is undoubtedly the image of Matenat in the film " Bir qalanın sirri". She is currently living with his wife, Mark Voznesensky, in Moscow.
