Jim Starlin was born October 9, 1949 in Detroit. He was raised a Catholic. In the 1960s, Starlin served as an aviation photographer for the US Navy in Vietnam. In his free time, he drew various comics.
He is the creator of such characters as Thanos, Drax the Destroyer, Gamora and Shang-Chi.
