Yücel Çakmakli is a Turkish director, producer and screenwriter. He was born in 1937 in Bolvadin, Ayfonkarahisar province, Turkey. In 1959, he graduated from the Journalism Institute of Istanbul University, Turkey. After returning from active military service in 1963, the Yeni Istanbul newspaper published a column and articles about cinema on a page headed by Tariq Bugra. Until 1968, he was an assistant director to Osman Seden and Orhan Aksoy in the making of about 50 films. From 1975 to 1990, he was the director and producer of the TRT channel. He died on August 23, 2009 in Istanbul.
