Selim Akgyul was born in Mardin (Turkey). He graduated from the Faculty of Management of the University of Mustafa Kemal, then studied theater and cinema at the Messopotamian Cultural Center. There he also took part in a theater group and played in several plays. He was awarded the prize "Promising actor" at ÇASOD Acting Awards (2006) for his role in the play 'Anlat İstanbul'.
