Ayaz Salayev
Director, screenwriter, producer, critic
Ayaz Salayev was born in 1960 in Baku, Azerbaijan. Graduated from State Institute of Cinematography in Moscow, Russia. Worked as film director, film critic, producer, cultural theorist, scriptwriter, anchorman, actor, the author and director of TV programs on different channels in Baku, teacher of cinema and culture in Moscow All-Union State Institute of Cinematography and in Baku State University of Arts. In 1995 made a full-length feature film “Yarasa” (The Bat). The film participated at more than 30 international film festivals and won various awards including Grand Prix of International Film Festival of European Cinema in ANGERS (France, 1996). In 2013 directed a full-length feature film “Black and White Nights”. Directed more than 70 documentaries and PSA (social reels). Lecturer at more than 20 international conferences and assemblies. Since 2013 Anchorman at CBC TV Channel and Chief Editor at “Azerbaijanfilm” Studio.Ayaz Salayev is Honored Worker of Arts of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
