Albert Sanchez Pinol was born 1965 in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. He is a writer, known for El bosc (2012), Cold Skin (2017) and Comtes. L'origen de Catalunya (2017).
Albert Sánchez Piñol abandoned his Law degree and studied Anthropology at the University of Barcelona. He is a member of the Centre for African Studies and has undertaken numerous field trips to the Congo to study Pygmies. His doctoral thesis research was cut short by the outbreak of the country’s civil war but the shadow of what he learnt stretches over his stories and has become one of the great defining features of his literature. He is currently a regular columnist in the Catalan newspaper Ara.
