Biography
Kramer Morgenthau was born to a Jewish family, the son of Ruth (née Schachter) and Henry Morgenthau III. His father was an author and television producer. His mother was professor of international politics at Brandeis University, an advisor to President Jimmy Carter on rural development in poor countries, and in 1988 ran unsuccessfully as a Democratic candidate for Congress in Rhode Island.His great-great-grandfather was businessman Mayer Lehman. He has one brother, Henry (Ben) Morgenthau (born 1964) and one sister, Sarah Elinor Morgenthau (born 1963).His grandfather was Henry Morgenthau Jr. the U.S. Treasury secretary during the Roosevelt administration; his great-grandfather, Henry Morgenthau, was the ambassador to the Ottoman Empire during World War I; his uncle is Robert M. Morgenthau, Manhattan district attorney for 35 years.He was raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In 2011, he married Tracy Fleischman in a Jewish ceremony at the former Cathedral of Saint Vibiana in .Los Angeles.
