Born to a Jewish family in New York. Great-nephew of Israeli architect Moshe Safdie. His parents Amy and Alberto Safdie divorced when he was a child. After the divorce of his parents, he spent his childhood in two houses, alternately living with his father in Queens and with his mother and stepfather in Manhattan. He attended Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School in Manhattan before attending the College of Communications at Boston University, graduating in 2008.
