Yuri Matveev was born on September 27, 1960 in the city of Khilok, Chita Region. After graduating from school, he entered the Irkutsk School of Music, studied there to play the acoustic guitar. The career of a professional musician began for him in 1986, when he went with the violinist Artyom Yakushenko to perform at the All-Union Jazz Festival in Novosibirsk, where he received a diploma as one of the best performers. The duo’s active work has been going on since 1992, being part of the Irkutsk Youth Theater and the Pilgrim Theater, they wrote music for performances, traveled with concerts around the country and abroad, in particular, performed in Peru and Germany. The collective style is difficult to overcome: author's instrumental music with elements of jazz, rock, ethnic motifs. After participating in the “Rock of Pure Water” festival, friends decided to establish their own group, White Ostrog.
