Carey Mulligan was born 28 May 1985 in London, the daughter of Nano (née Booth) and Stephen Mulligan. Her father is of Irish descent and was originally from Liverpool. Her mother is from Llandeilo, Wales. Her mother is a university lecturer and her father is a hotel manager. Her parents met while they were both working in a hotel in their twenties.
