Rimi Sen was born as Shubhomitra Sen in Calcutta, West Bengal. She graduated from Bidya Bharati Women's High School in 1998. She completed commerce at the University of Calcutta. She studied Odyssey dance under the guidance of renowned guru Aloki Kanungo from Calcutta. From childhood, Sen had a dream of becoming an actress. After graduation, she convinced her mother to accompany her to Mumbai. She later said that none of her family encouraged her except her grandfather. After going through the rounds, she got into an ad, including one Coca-Cola ad with Amir Khan. She was immediately noticed, and her first proposal for films began to act. Rimi made her debut as the lead actress in the Telugu film "Neither Todu Kavali." Her debut film in Hindi is Vijay Galani'sHungama, released in 2003. It was a comedy film in which she starred with Akshay Hannah, Aftab Shivdasani, Paresh Raval and other actors. She followed this with her appearance in large budget films such as Dhoom (2004), Garam Masala (2005) and Golmaal (2006). She also starred in the 2006 film "Dhoom 2" and accompanied him with Johnny Gaddaar along with new actor Neil Nitin Mukesh. In 2008, she appeared in De Taali and in the city of Sankat in 2009.
