Engin Bayrak was born in Germany, in 1979. He is the youngest son of a family who migrated from former Yugoslavia in 1957. He came to Turkey with his family when he was five. He grew up among the immigrants who played musical instruments in Çamdibi, Izmir, in Turkey. In time he developed an interest in the polyphony of Balkan Music. He wrote stories when little. He graduated from the Department of Mathematics in Ege University and wrote a thesis called 'Music in Mathematics'. He studied madam and composition in the Turkish Art Music Department of Karsiyaka Municipality Conservatory. He composed music for movies, state theaters, universities and also for amateur and independent theatre companies. Many movies and theatre plays that he composed music for won prizes in competitions.
