Sergey Petrovich Banevich (born December 2, 1941, Okhansk) - Soviet composer, mainly writing music for children; Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1982), holder of the Order of Honor and the Order of Friendship, laureate of the St. Petersburg Government Prize. Sergey Banevich was born in the city of Okhansk, Perm Region, where his family was evacuated during World War II. In 1944, his family returned to Leningrad. Banevich received his musical education at the Leningrad Conservatory. In 1966 he graduated from it, and in 1969 - graduate school in the class of Orest Yevlakhov.
