Biography

Mehmet Erdem was born in Manisa in 1978. He graduated from high school in the city of Izmir, after which he entered the Bosporus University at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, showing great interest in mathematics and physics. Mehmet became interested in music as a child thanks to his father and uncle, who played the clarinet. The first instrument that the future musician took in his hands at the age of 5 was the mandolin. Later he had learnt playing  lute, drums and a type of balalaika called "Balama". In his student years, Mehmet participated as an instrumentalist and vocalist in various groups. He also participated in the recordings of albums of many Turkish artists as a session musician. In 2010, Mehmet received an award for the music for the film “Golden Orange”.
