The hero of the film Bakhtiyar Muradov has a beautiful voice and dreams of becoming an oilman, like his father. He becomes a drilling master, and his beloved girl Sasha Verkhovskaya leaves for Moscow to study geological survey institute. Rival Bakhtiyar – “fat Yusuf”, travels with her, dreaming to devote himself to the trade business. Already working in the oil fields, Bakhtiyar falls into the hands of the roguish Agabala who was director of the club, Agabala uses his talent for his own mercenary purposes. During one of his variety performances Bakhtiyar breaks his voice and understands that singing is not only talent, but also hard work and decides to enter the conservatory.
